About Denetra Robinson, MSW, LCSW

Denetra Robinson, MSW, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in trauma focused therapy.

My Approach:

My goal is to assist individuals in changing their thought processes and behaviors to become the best version of themselves. As a social worker, I understand that the road to personal growth is a journey of uncertain turns. I also understand that throughout this journey, different life circumstances could impact the way a person is able to function.

Therapy sessions with me will be person-centered to encourage self-determination, and encompass a strengths-based approach. I feel that it is important to build on a person’s strengths and assist them in identifying their resiliency in the face of adversity. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is used to assist individuals in identifying negative thoughts and behaviors, and developing effective coping skills to modify behaviors when experiencing distress.

Who I Serve:

I work with a variety of individuals including children and adolescents, as well as women from various backgrounds and ages. Therapy is individualized to meet each person’s specific needs.

My Clients often have issues pertaining to the following

  • Difficulty processing and coping with trauma, abuse, and/or neglect
  • Inability to communicate assertively
  • Coping with life after grief and loss
  • Parenting Skills Training
  • Managing anger and behavioral responses when dealing with stress
  • Recovery from drugs and alcohol

My Background:

I have had a passion for helping others since an early age, helping tutor disadvantaged elementary school age children while in high school. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Spelman College, I began working for the Department of Family and Children Services where I observed various underlying issues that impact families. I then went back to further my education and earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. With over 10 years in the field of social work, I have experience with family and children services, community based therapeutic services, crisis stabilization, and residential treatment. My passion continues to be serving those who need assistance with coping with life’s stressors.
